Once I had received my fabric samples from Palmhive,
I was inspired to research further into sports wear and sports styling. I came
across Mary Katrantzou and Adidas’ recent collaboration. I found Katrantzou’s
prints interesting, although they are quite literal in pushing forward the
concept of sports wear; she has portrayed a perforated fabric within the print.
This is a fabric which is commonly used within sportswear and also something
which I have an abundance of due to Palmhive kindly supplying me with it.
Displaying a fabric texture or aesthetic within a print is a concept I have
never thought of before and was quite interested to explore. However upon
reflection of this technique I feel that it does not work with my current
prints and distracts from them. I plan to look for different ways in which I
can incorporate these textures and fabrics into the practice unit.
