3.1 | Sample Layout: Phosphorescent Futures

"As technology is ever growing within society, we recognise heavy usage of mobile phones, laptops and tablets day and night. These glowing screens radiate light emerging from darkness. We look to glowing fuchsia pinks, pulsating purples and midnight hues with contrasting, electrifying neon’s as we move away from soft iridescent accents and progress to darker tones of this glowing reflective state. This bold concept adds an active, energetic element to sportswear with a charged accent of primary colour."

3.0 | Sample Layouts: Real Virtuality

These boards are an experimentation of composition and design. I am fond of my use of font but not the scale. In an initial experimentation I have used quite a basic layout, which I feel can look more professional however as this is representing my trend I feel that it does not fully indicate it.

"Digital reworking and rapid prototyping change perceptions on the normalities in everyday life. Creation takes inspiration from early digital tools, resuscitating their binary language and programme codes. Geometric lettering reflects virtual ‘bugs’ to deepen this concept. Technology is the pioneer of this trend portraying an Internet visual language; the glitch style creates an uncontrolled feeling and a warped sense of reality. This trend leads the way for print and graphics for AW16/17."

2.9 | Sample Layouts: Deep Dimensions

In order to contextualise my trend, and allow it to become comprehendible to the reader I felt that it was necessary to divide the trend into three sections, Deep Dimensions, Virtual Reality and Phosphorescent Futures. These names have been heavily considered, as well as the sample layouts that I have created. Although I am not set on any particular layout I have curated, I will continue sampling the layout of the trends. The descriptions I have used within the layouts are something I would like to remain as I worked hard on these descriptions and feel they perfectly sum up what I am trying to portray.

2.8 | Re-familiarising with Trends

I feel that I have slightly lost sight of what my end goal is. So to re-familiarise myself, I sourced a number of trend books such as View2 and Promostyl, also looking at web based resource, WGSN. It was important for me to revisit these outlets to gain further understanding of how trend resources work. I now feel that I have gained confident knowledge of the different sections a trend resource provides, such as Colour Direction and Fabric Direction pages. This has inspired me to begin to sample layout ideas and to also consider a name for my trend as well as any descriptive paragraphs I want to use within the trend book.

This process has allowed me to reconsider the style in which I have been developing my work, as my illustrations are too considered and not suggestive enough. Also I need to create more content for the trend resource. Although I have created a lot of inspirational imagery for myself, I now need to decide if it will inspire others, and use these elements within the resource whilst keeping a high-end aesthetic. The next step in this unit is to create sample layouts and create more inspirational content.
